Fri 21st June - Multiplying and Dividing by 10, 100, 1000

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Understand how to multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100 or 1000
SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to multiply and divide integers and decimals by 10, 100 and 1000

ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY:
Write down the answers to the following 5 sums

1. 45 x 10
2. 3.45 x 10
3. 6.783 x 100
4. 0.0564 x 100
6 5.7892 x 1000

LESSON:
 Turn students into human numbers and decimal point to show how multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 makes numbers move either left or right. USe above questions to demonstrate this method and then show some on IWB.

Work through these worksheets:

PLENARIES: Students check work from answer sheets or using their own calculators, supporting stidents at their tables. SEN support with Ross and Edward supporting their completion of worksheets
