Mon 5th March – Revision – Coordinates, Number sequences, Frequency Tables and bar charts

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To revisit Coordinates, Number Sequences, Frequency Tables, Bar charts.

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to answers all the questions on the Maths test this week

STARTER:
Draw a tally chart for the different colours of smarties in the picture you have been given.

LESSON:

Task 1:Reminder on How to draw a bar chart

LABELS, AXES, GAPS

Draw a bar chart from your Smartie Frequency Table

 
 

Draw a coordinate grade that goes up to 10 in both the x and Y direction. Use two of your little squares for every count of 1

TASK2: Plot these points on a coordinate grid:

(3,5), (6,-2), (4, -7), (-9,4), (-2,5), (0,7), (6,0), (9,9), (-4,-4)

Draw a four sided shape on your grid and list the coordinates of the corners of your shape.

TASK3: Write down the rule and the next 5 numbers of these sequences

  1. 4, 7, 10, 13, 16
  2. 101, 97, 93, 89, 85
  3. 1½, 4, 6½, 9, 11½
  4. 5, 6, 8, 11, 15

Can you write down the first 8 numbers in these sequences

  1. Starting number is 5, rule is +6
  2. Starting number is 85 and rule is -3
  3. First two numbers are both 1, the rule is add the previous two numbers together

PLENARY: Quick check with students on their confidence with the three revision topics.
